There are 5000 charter school in this country yet no real work has been done by reformers to connect the efforts and define the work as a movement for transforming education and weeding out the for profit charters or truly setting a well meaning effort to work together to not fight traditional education but to build a new system where all schools have more autonomy and can make local decisions… charters still have a bad name and for good reason. Vouchers and for profit companies have gotten all the spotlight and have been creating the charter story, we need to take it back.
Look at this list and please look into the charters in your states…what ones would you hold up as examples of best practices…which ones should we promote?
